WorldSBK wild cards for the Most round granted

A Superbike World Championship race weekend is to be held at Most in less than a month. Fans can look forward to battles fought by top riders including Czech representatives from 29–31 July. Apart from the regular participants, Oliver König and Ondřej Vostatek, five more Czech riders are to be watched having been given wild cards, which provides them with the chance to test themselves against the world's elite.

Oliver König will make his appearance in the WorldSBK prestigious class. The twenty-year-old rider has been experiencing his debut season wearing the colours of Orelac Kawasaki. At Most, he will try to follow up his last year’s brilliant result as he took the second runner-up spot in the lowest category, Supersport 300. König will be joined by a wild-card entry, Michal Prášek, on the grid. The experienced thirty-three years old rider is a regular participant in the Alpe Adria series with quite several achievements to his credit. The most notable ones include an absolute victory in this Championship’s Superstock 1000 class in 2015 and 2016. „I’m grateful for the wild card for the Most event. I’d like to thank all of those who had put in a good word for me so that I may take part. For many years, I had dreamt about being entered for WSBK, but it was impossible. It won’t be an easy weekend for us. I’m about to ride my bike, which I’ve entered for the Alpe Adria championship. It is impossible to set any major goals, but anyway, I want to enjoy every single lap while I’m on the track”, says Michal Prášek.

Ondřej Vostatek is a regular participant in the Supersport 600 class this year. Traditionally, he rides a Yamaha in the colours of the MS Racing team. The seventeen-year-old rider belongs to the Czech favourites for points-scoring positions. So far, he has been successful in the Estoril event, above all, where he finished in the top ten on both occasions. It was Petr Najman that could have been a surprise in the same category. The twenty-six rider who has reaped successes mainly on natural circuits, has been granted a wild card for the Most event in the Supersport 600 class, but unfortunately, his appearance has been destroyed by a nasty fall and a subsequent injury that happened during the Finnish IRRC round in July. We wish him a speedy recovery and comeback to racing tracks.

There will be two Czech wild-card entries in the Supersport 300 class. The more experienced rider of this couple is Petr Svoboda, 19, who has also represented the Accolade Smrz Racing team as a stand-in for an injured Spanish rider so far in this season. José Luis Pérez González is now coming back to racing, so Petr will be a wild-card entry. “I’m looking forward to the home race at Most. The season has been filled with promise so far, but sometimes I failed to put together what it takes. I hope to reverse the course of events during the home race. Both the team and my bike are working one hundred per cent, so I’ll try to achieve a good result”, said Svoboda.

In the 300 class, Petr will be joined by Filip Feigl, who made his debut in the world championship at Most last year. The regular IDM Supersport 300 rider also takes part in the GP12 class within the Miniracing Czech Republic series as part of practice this year. “I’m happy to see that I’ve been given a wild card. This is a big chance for me to prove myself and an honour to take part in a world championship race in front of Czech spectators on my home ground”, said Feigl.

A regular participant of the R3 bLU cRU European Cup is 17-year-old Filip Juránek. Of course, he will not be missing in Most in the saddle of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 motorcycle, with which König raced in the Supersport 300 class last year. Another wild-card entry is Adéla Ouředníčková, whose name sounds familiar to the motorcycle road racing fans thanks, in particular, to the Miniracing Czech Republic championship, where he has taken part for three years. This year, she advanced to the most prestigious GP12 class, where she regularly fights for top positions. The only Czech female participant will contest in an R3 bLU cRU FIM European Cup race.

It was the Road Racing Commission of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic (ACCR) headed by its chairman, Matěj Smrž, that ruled the roost when selecting the riders, which was not an easy decision-making process. “Like last year, there were more applications than we could grant. My thanks go to the commission members for their help while deciding, and I wish good luck to our representatives. I believe the Czech riders stand a good chance here”, said Matěj Smrž.

“This year, a WorldSBK round takes place for the second time at Most and for the first time free from any COVID-19 restrictions. We’ve done a great job on the track as well as for the fans outside the track, and we’re well prepared for the ultimate weekend of the racing season. The spectators will also have access to the paddock, so we’ll provide everyone with the best possible experience. Children under 18 are given free entrance. I believe there will be enough fans because we want to go on improving our complex in order to organise events of such a magnitude, which would be impossible without the spectators’ support”, says Josef Zajíček, the AUTODROM MOST Chief Executive Officer.

“I’m very happy that, like last year, the Czech fans will be able to watch seven Czech riders on the track, including five wild-card entries. The premiere edition was a success with Oliver König achieving an excellent result. We’ll see who will be the best of them this time. Certainly, the Czech riders face a tough challenge. So come and support them from the Most circuit grandstands!” said Jan Šťovíček, the President of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic.

The WorldSBK Czech Round will take place at the Autodrom Most from 29th to 31st July 2022.
