Ahead of its second WorldSBK round, the Autodrom Most has been undergoing more work both on-and-off the track

As the Autodrom Most prepares for its second MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship round later on in 2022, work has been getting underway to renovate and improve certain aspects of the circuit. The Czech venue joined the WorldSBK calendar in 2021 and had a stunning maiden event, including an incredible final lap showdown between Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with Brixx WorldSBK) and Scott Redding, then at Aruba.it Racing – Ducati.

The circuit has been working throughout the winter on a number of changes to the venue, with a new asphalt surface including down the start-finish straight and through the opening chicane. The investment, which totals in 2022 20,000,000 Korunas (approximately €800,000, £670,000), also includes a new drainage system related to the resurfacing and reaches a total length of 4.5km. In 2021, more than 35,000,000 Korunas (approximately €1.4m, £1.2m) were invested into the Autodrom Most with the investment continuing into 2022.

Another change has been to the profile of run-off areas and gravel traps at several corners, by extending the run-off areas and changing the camber of the gravel traps. The work in this aspect has involved moving 5,500 tonnes of gravel and thousands of tonnes of earth. The circuit has also installed more timing loops and cameras to monitor the circuit; with 27 4k resolution cameras that are equipped with wipers and will rotate. The circuit’s control tower has also been reconstructed with an enlarged space in the control room.

“This year, we started already in January working on a new drainage system with a total length of 4.5 kilometres, which is related to the previous track surface reconstruction”, explained Jindřich Hrneček, the Autodrom Most Sporting Director. “On several bends, we have extended the safety zones by four to six metres and changed their camber so that they may be even more effective if necessary. Of course, all of them comply with the FIM and FIA international regulations. The cameras are rotating, equipped with a wiper.”

The Autodrom Most will host the Czech Round for the second successive year in 2022, having made its debut on the calendar last year in a phenomenal, action-packed event. Held at the end of July in 2022, from the 29th to 31st, the 2022 Czech Round is sure to be another incredible round.
