WorldSBK Most: The winner will take a piece of the track and Johnathan Rea will ride his record-breaking race

The long wait is over. The World Superbike Championship will start this Friday at the Autodrom Most and the Czech Republic will be represented in every category. The winner will receive an original trophy made of Czech glass, which bears the imprint of the finish line surface.

 

A weekend packed with top motorsport and performances by riders on the world's fastest bikes based on production machines - this and much more will be brought by the race weekend in Most.

 

A special trophy made of Czech glass is celebrating the art of glassmaking, which has a long tradition in our country. The simple basic shape of the trophy was chosen to make the surface texture stand out as much as possible. It is made up of an asphalt imprint that was taken directly from the finish line of the Most circuit. The winner will thus take with him a symbolic piece of the track on which he was victorious. "I was inspired by the reactions of athletes all over the World who, in addition to thanking the spectators, often kneel down on the ground to thank or kiss the ground on which they won," says designer Jan Jaroš, who created the trophy.

 

This is the third year that the Superbikes have been held in Most and the organisers believe they will beat last year's record of nearly 40,000 visitors. "Autodrom Most has income only from entrance fees, so we believe that Czech fans will come to support not only our drivers, but also us as a circuit," says Josef Zajíček, Chairman of the Board of Autodrom Most.

 

A number of attractions and a rich accompanying programme are prepared for the fans. Already on Friday, they will be able to meet selected riders at a special show in the Matylda camp, which is in the immediate vicinity of the circuit. The entire WorldSBK Championship series is specific in its focus on the fans, who are always right in the heart of the action. They have access to the racing paddock where they can take a look behind the teams or meet the riders. After each race, the riders ride to the main podium directly among the spectators in the so-called Victory Lane. This allows fans to share their emotions and unique atmosphere directly after the race and then hear their impressions in the Paddock Show, where there is also other entertainment on the stage throughout the day.

 

But the main action will be on the track from Friday onwards. The good news for Czech fans is that they will be able to cheer on a Czech rider in each of the categories.

 

In the WorldSSP300, Petr Svoboda (Fusport-RT Motorsport by SKM-Kawasaki) is still in contention for the World Championship title and will be looking to close the gap on the championship leaders, who have only a slight lead, with a podium finish on his home track.

 

Ondrej Vostatek, starting on the wild card in the WorldSSP, is aiming for a top ten finish.

 

In the WorldSBK, Oliver König will be fighting for his first points this season. As the youngest rider in his category, Oliver is battling with experienced riders and can therefore only surprise.

 

After six race weekends, Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.It Racing - Ducati) is leading the standings with an impressive 391 points. His aim is to take his second victory at the Most circuit and increase his lead in the standings.

 

Behind him is Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK), who is 70 points behind. Looking at his previous performances at the Most circuit, where he took a win and several podium finishes, he is a great candidate for success.

 

Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK) holds third position with 208 points. His goal is to secure his first podium finish at the Most circuit and to keep his position in the fight for the championship title. "I am really happy with the new asphalt in Most last year. The whole chicane was redone for 2022 and it was a big improvement," Locatelli is looking forward to the race.

 

One of the highlights of the weekend will be Sunday's 400th anniversary start, which will be contested by British rider Jonathan Rea. He will become the first rider in the championship to reach this remarkable milestone. The second rider with the most starts in WorldSBK is Troy Corser with 377 starts.

 

Tickets are still available for spectators at www.autodrom-most.cz. For fans who choose to arrive on their own bike, parking is available on site, where a locker room will also be set up to drop off helmets and other gear.
