Czech Team Accolade Smrz Racing BGR with two young guns in 2024

After a fantastic season 2023, which made history for Czech motorsport – the team from České Budějovice Accolade Smrz Racing BGR became vice world champions of the World Supersport 300 category thanks to their rider José Luis Perez Gonzalez – the team of Jakub Smrž decided to embark on a new journey with two young riders.

One of them is a Czech star Filip Novotný. The 16-year-old from Brno, who scored a podium finish last season in the Northern Talent Cup, will make his debut in the world championship in 2024. His teammate will be Chris Clark from USA, who made his first appearance aboard the Accolade Smrz Racing BGR machine at the end of 2023.

 

Jakub Smrž, team manager:

„For 2024 we decided to put our money on two youngsters. Chris raced the final two rounds with us this year. Whilst it was his first time in Europe and on our circuits, he was able to show his potential. Filip starred in the Northern Talent Cup and after a long time we are able to give an opportunity to a talented Czech rider. It won’t be easy for either one of them, however, we will do everything possible to fight at least for world championship points. It will definitely be a different challenge compared to this season, where we fought for the world title. I am also making arrangements at this time for our rider José, whom I would like to see race in Supersport.”

 

Filip Novotný:

„First of all, I would like to say thanks to Kuba and the whole team for this opportunity to race in the world championship. I cannot wait to start my collaboration with such a successful team. I believe that the season will be full of new memories, experience and good results. For sure it will make me grow as a rider and I am really excited to get started. Thanks to everyone who has been supporting me on my journey to achieve my dream.”

 

Chris Clark:

„I am so thankful to Kuba and the whole team for allowing me to race with them. I am really looking forward to working with all the mechanics and Kuba to become a better racer. Having done the final two rounds with them in 2023, I know this is the place I want to be. I am grateful for the opportunity. I know that joining forces with Kuba’s team will allow me to grow as a rider.”
